exhibit (mmk zollamt frankfurt)
video installation | 4'19'' | 2014

when visiting an art exhibition all the presented works appear in a specifically planned order and arrangement. they are shown in a way curators and artists decided and there is no doubt about this being the one and only way to see these works. 'exhibit' shows a documentation of the planning and construction phase of the show it is presented in. the video shows an inspection of the space with the artist and curator discussing possible places for works. all the walls and floors are still empty and bear the potential for different arrangements. the voices on the recording like the images of the white walls are blurred. it is a quick and rough preview. the camera moves from wall to wall and defines the format of a possible work on each wall by the format of the video picture. it simulates the size of a potential work for each spot at the same time creating such a picture by recording. the work is not only exploring the possibility of it’s own presentation but presents all the possibilities that are erased by the time the exhibition is opened.

a new video will be produced for each location the work is shown.
